Abstract
cómo se concretan en la imagen de la ciudad;
establecer a qué causas responden y ofrecer un
primer diagnóstico y propuestas para atajar dichos
problemas atendiendo a su diversidad
Linguistic landscapes have great capacity to express urban processes. They are instruments of applied linguistics that help to better understand the city. Does the linguistic landscape of Cadiz reflect, through languages other than Spanish, the main processes affecting the historic centre?; are the main problems affecting the traditional inhabitants of this part of the city derived from the analysis of this landscape?; can we point to the public policies that should be aimed at solving these problems? The aims of the research are to determine the linguistic landscapes that make up the historic centre of Cádiz; to explain how they are expressed in the image of the city; to describe what causes they respond to; and to offer an initial diagnosis and proposals for tackling these problems, taking into account their diversity
