La paradoja de la comunicación sin fronteras : la "fractura digital"

Abstract

Cada vez es más llamativo comprobar cómo la información circula por el mundo sin trabas aparentes y de manera homogeneizadora. Las empresas mediáticas, Internet muy por encima, y el poder económico -de forma incuestionable- controlan los círculos y flujos de información sin que la mayoría de las personas usuarias, protagonistas y receptoras de la misma sean conscientes de que no es tan libre ni tan transparente. Fomentar una alfabetización y una cultura mediática que permita el uso competente de los medios difusores y la construcción coherente del conocimiento permitiría solventar las diferencias, fracturas y discriminaciones que ya son una realidad en la sociedad digital.

These days it is more and more evident to verify how the information goes round the world in an homogenous way and without no obstacles in the way. The media enterprises, particulary Internet, and the economic power - without a doubt- control the circles and flows of information without the users begin aware of it. The majority of users, centre of attention and receivers of the same are unaware that information is neither so free nor so reliable. If we rather fostered and improved literacy that allowed and adequate and competent use of the broadcasting media we would solve the differences and discriminations that are already a reality in our digital society
