Abstract
After the victory of the supporters of Brexit in the referendum of June 23, 2016, the threats to British security remain the same as before the aforementioned consultation (Russia, ISIL,...) and this is observed in the argument of the current British government. Brexiters fostered a demagogic and populist discourse, based on maintaining that the abandonment of the EU (and the consequent supposed recovery of national sovereignty) would immunize the United Kingdom against any threat to its security
