Abstract
Those engaged in environmental entrepreneurship, and specifically those working in the organic waste valorization sector, frequently encounter difficulties in launching their entrepreneurial initiatives. In this paper, the problems related to compost production as an initiative are analysed, taking into account the relevant legislation and the potential market. Also, by using the Lean Canvas model, the main components to commercially validate a hypothetical commercial initiative in this area are analysed. This paper aims to be a useful tool for environmental project developers, students interested in business creation and professionals specialised in sustainable techniques within the circular economy. Despite the significant challenges in the valorization of organic by-products through composting, the study highlights that, with a suitable business model, this practice is presented as a beneficial option in environmental, agronomic and economic terms.
