Abstract
Three travertinic levels have been identified in the Beni Younech village, near the Quaternary marine
terraces of Ras Leona Point, in the south-eastern coast of the Gibraltar Strait. These travertines developed
probably over marine terraces as soon as the latter underwent successively subaerial exposure. Samples
from the travertine fronts yielded absolute U / Th ages ranging between 225 and 97 ky BP. These data
allow inferring the travertines as formed in a regressive context starting probably at 700 ka BP. The travertinic
formation had an important episode at 110-120 ka BP, then characterized by a triple cascade before
finishing at about 97-98 ka
