Abstract
La función docente en la educación superior es una tarea compleja que demanda una
reflexión por sus alcances relacionados con la mejora de la calidad de vida de la
sociedad. El dominio de conocimientos por parte de los responsables de formar y la
capacidad de transmitir los mismos y tomar decisiones con responsabilidad requiere de
un análisis permanente, con el sentido de optimizar las estrategias y competencias
formativas. El presente trabajo reflexiona sobre el pensamiento crítico entendido como
una competencia fundamental para el docente universitario, puesto que facilita
identificar aquellas formas de actuación e intervención educativa de calidad más
adecuadas y necesarias para la promoción de la colaboración y el consenso.
The teaching function in higher education is a complex task that demands reflection due to its scope related to the improvement of society's quality of life. The mastery of knowledge by those responsible for training and the ability to transmit it and make decisions with responsibility requires a permanent analysis, in order to optimize training strategies and competences. This paper reflects on critical thinking as a fundamental competence for university teachers, since it facilitates the identification of those forms of action and quality educational intervention that are most appropriate and necessary for the promotion of collaboration and consensus.
