Abstract
Este artículo presenta una revisión sistemática de la literatura publicada
en las últimas dos décadas sobre el vínculo entre maternidad y carreras
académicas, analizando su impacto, vacíos y sesgos. La evidencia sistematizada
constata que la maternidad afecta negativamente la movilidad internacional, la
productividad y el acceso a cargos académicos. Factores clave que amplifican
estos impactos incluyen la coincidencia de las etapas de mayor demanda
de cuidado con momentos críticos en la carrera. Este estudio destaca la
importancia de abordar esta problemática para garantizar la equidad de
género en instituciones académicas
This article presents a systematic review of the literature published in the last two decades on the relationship between motherhood and academic careers, analyzing its impact, gaps, and biases. The synthesized evidence confirms that motherhood negatively affects international mobility, productivity, and access to academic positions. Key factors amplifying these impacts include the overlap between periods of high caregiving demands and critical career stages. This study highlights the importance of addressing this issue to ensure gender equity in academic institutions
