Abstract
profesiones sanitaria
The period between the second half of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century stands out for the beginning and development of hygienism in Spain, which gives great importance to the health and living conditions of the populations. The follow-up that the municipality of Hinojos made of the hygienic doctrine is what concerns us in this work, because we detail the content of the municipal ordinances of this town in regard to this subject. The fundamental objective of these ordinances was to end epidemic diseases caused by unhealthiness or malnutrition, such as typhoid fever or cholera. These ordinances consisted of the application of regulations such as the removal of slaughterhouses from the rural nucleus, the creation of a mechanical system for the supply of abundant drinking water, the monitoring of a series of cleaning standards in public establishments or the surveillance of certain frauds, such as food adulteration or intrusiveness in the health professions
