Ritmo musical en las habilidades lectoras de adultos migrantes: hipótesis e implicaciones basadas en una revisión sistemática

Abstract

Numerosos estudios correlacionales indican que la aptitud musical de los estudiantes que aprenden una lengua adicional (LA) mantiene una relación con sus habilidades lectoras. Sin embargo, la investigación so-bre cómo afecta esta relación a los adultos en contex-tos de migración, no alfabetizados o con bajo nivel de alfabetización, que aprenden una lengua adicional es aún escasa. Esta revisión de la literatura tiene por ob-jetivo conocer el estado de la cuestión sobre la dimen-sión acústica del proceso lector y sintetizar los hallaz-gos en torno a la relación del ritmo musical con la adquisición de habilidades lectoras para el diseño de futuras investigaciones. Para ello, se realizó una revi-sión sistemática siguiendo el protocolo PRISMA. Los resultados indican la existencia de una relación entre el ritmo musical y las habilidades lectoras, mediadas por la conciencia fonológica y la memoria auditiva de trabajo, lo cual tendría implicaciones en el aprendi-zaje de la lecturaNumerous correlational studies indicate that the mu-sical proficiency of learners of an additional language (AL) is related to their reading skills. However, re-search on how this relationship affects adults in mi-gration contexts, non-literate or low-literate adults learning an additional language is still scarce. The aim of this literature review is to assess the state of the art of the acoustic dimension of the reading process and to synthesise the findings on the relationship between musical rhythm and the acquisition of reading skills for the design of future research. To this end, a sys-tematic review was carried out following the PRISMA protocol. The results indicate the existence of a relationship between musical rhythm and reading skills, mediated by phonological awareness and audi-tory working memory, which would have implica-tions for the learning of reading in an additional lan-guage by adult migrants.
