Acheronta movebo : el Infierno y el Inconsciente; Virgilio y Freud

Abstract

Con la cita virgiliana que sirve de epígrafe a la Interpretación de los sueños, Freud quiso aludir a la represión. En este artículo, tras un análisis de las connotaciones semánticas que la idea del infierno ha ido asumiendo en la cultura europea cristiana, se enfoca la imagen de la furia Alecto, evocada por sinécdoque en el verso virgiliano y se estudia cómo sus ricas expansiones semánticas se han mantenido vivas hasta Freud. Se llega a la conclusión de que la antítesis Superos / Acheronta, contenida en el verso de Virgilio elegido por Freud, lleva el eco y se superpone a la oposición nietzscheana Apolo/Dióniso así como las de razón/voluntad, consciente/ inconsciente, yo /ello.___________________________________ Freud, opening his Interpretation of dreams with a quotation from Virgil, wanted to allude to repression. In this article, after an analysis of the semantic connotations that the idea of hell has assumed in the christian culture of Europe, I focus on the fury Alecto, whose image is evocated through a synecdoche in the Virgil's line. I will try to prove that the rich semantic expansions emanating from Alecto were still alive in Freud's age. My conclusion is that the antithesis Superos / Acheronta, suggested in the text choosed by Freud, reminds us of Nietzsche's opposition between Apollo and Dionysus and those between reason and will, consciousness and unconsciousness, ego and id.
