Abstract
Finalmente,
el tercer elemento que define esta producción
consiste en la ausencia de aportaciones relevantes
derivadas del análisis del registro material.
In this paper I shall attempt a critical revision of certain recent archaeologist works which focused on the study of territory and settlement in the area of Huelva during the Islamic times (8th to 13th centuries). Three mains shortcomings are to be found in these studies. First of all, from a methodological point of view, the main serious deficiency of such production is its complete lack of scientific rigour and precision in the use of Arabic written sources, as well as in the conclusions reached through their analysis, which are frecuently mere unjustified speculations without any empirical or documentary bases. Also, I should highlight their absolute estrangement from perspectives and methodologies developed during the last two decades by specialized archaeologists and based on Extensive Archaeology, Urban Archaeology, and Hydraulic Archaeology. Finally, conclusions draw from the study of archeological record are absolutely irrelevant.
