Abstract
Francia e Inglaterra
This incursion into the poetry of José Fernández Madrid from New Granada is a perusal of his real and fictitious travelling life; marked by exile, a brief return and flight, in wanderings that ended only with his death. His wanderings were conditioned by the historic moment, in which the author was torn between his personal life and epic emancipation. For this approach, we have mainly used the edition of his poems of 1828, but also others that were not collected in that edition, in which his friends Bello and Olmedo collaborated. We thus contribute a particular view of the poetry of a highly controversial author, with both defenders and detractors, whose work is conditioned by his wanderings between New Granada, his place of birth, and his forced sojourns in Cuba, France and England
